Economic growth is one of the three pillars of sustainable development. But SDGSustainable Development Goal 8 does not refer to a people-blind increase in economic accounts that ignores the impact on the environment. It refers to sustained and inclusive growth that can provide economic opportunities for everyone and help more people to escape poverty. It refers to growth that delivers full and productive employment with safety, job security and equal conditions for women and men. It also refers to growth that protects the environment and ensures a sustainable exploitation of resources.
